The accountability pressure dial.
Same student, same skill, three settings. Move the dial. Notice the difference between sympathy, useful accountability, and overcorrection in your mouth.
A coach is trying to get a sophomore to use his planner.

Clear Pressure
"This week, the planner is the focus point. If they don't use it, we name that directly and return to it next session."
What this teaches the coach
The coach learns to hold one thing steady. The student learns this is what we mean by accountability: calm, named, returned to.
How it lands on the student
Student feels the steadiness more than the pressure. Over time, the planner starts to become familiar and expected.
Sympathy says: I see this is hard. Useful accountability says: I see this is hard, and we're still doing the work.
